Altia announces code generation support for its optimized software-rendered pipeline for Renesas R-Car E2. This target is a compelling option for those developing radio or limited e-cockpit systems. Additionally, those who are planning open source into their projects will find that the target runs out-of-the-box on Yocto Linux.

The Renesas R-Car E2 was designed to deliver optimized infotainment and display audio for entry-level integrated cockpit systems. The R-Car E2 features two 1.0 GHz ARM® Cortex® A7 Dual Cores which provide 32 KB and 512 KB of memory, respectively. Moreover, if more horsepower is required, the E2 is part of the very scalable R-Car Series. So, developers can ramp up to the M2 or even the H2 with minimal design changes.

The Altia DeepScreen target for Renesas R-Car E2 includes a number of key capabilities including custom control of image loading within the HMI, which allows for faster boot time. Support for an inverted mode with the Alpha Mask Object allows graphics to be designed with a dynamic “cut out” effect. Also, plots and text animations have been performance optimized in this release of the Altia target for R-Car E2. Finally, the underpinnings for Altia’s next generation support of global languages has been enabled in this latest R-Car E2 release.
