Colorado Springs, Colo., January 15, 2008 - Altia is extremely pleased and proud to announce the appointment of our new President of Worldwide Automotive, Peter Abowd.
As Altia continues to expand business into Europe and Asia, Peter will focus his efforts on the international automotive industry. His responsibilities will span business, sales, marketing and engineering services. Peter will also be involved in the North American automotive market -- especially as it applies to the growing global automotive engineering landscape.
Peter comes to Altia with over 20 years of experience as a visionary leader at both Ford Motor Company and Visteon Corporation. At Visteon, Peter was Director of Embedded Software Development. There he oversaw the software development for all Audio/Infotainment, Driver Information and Climate Control products in North America and Europe. He developed Visteon's Visualization and Simulation Laboratory for cross-disciplined development of Human Machine Interfaces utilizing model-based software engineering.
Peter has an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Software Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University. During his time at Carnegie-Mellon, Peter worked with Watts Humphrey, creator of the Capability Maturity Model. He is a frequent conference speaker on the topics of automotive and embedded software development and is an adjunct lecturer for both the University of Michigan - Dearborn and the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
