When using Norton Internet Security as a firewall, some configuration changes to the firewall can improve Altia Design 8.0 editor start-up performance.

Open the Norton Internet Security and Firewall Options dialog, choose Advanced Settings and disable Stealth Blocked Ports. This disables blocking of communications on unused ports.

Without disabling this setting, Altia Design 8.0 start-up will be very slow because a new editor session attempts to check for TCP/IP sockets in use by existing editor sessions to avoid conflicts on the same sockets. These checks will stall for several seconds when Stealth Blocked Ports is enabled. Other internet firewall programs may have a similar setting and it should be disabled for best performance.
