New Font Modules offer capability to deploy fonts with optimal memory size and clarity on embedded devices.

Altia announces the release of Altia Design 11.4, the latest version of our powerful GUI editor. With this new release, Altia adds a new series of products, Font Modules, to our software offerings. With the globalization of GUIs, companies need a way to deliver beautiful fonts for all languages from Swedish to Swahili. Font Modules provide Altia customers with the broadest possible array of support for fonts in embedded interfaces, delivering globalized font support at a memory size and performance speed best suited to each company’s specific device.

Altia Font Modules offer these key benefits.

  • Support for advanced features like font linking and compressed fonts from Monotype
  • Flexible payment structures – both open source and commercially supported solutions
  • Lightweight integrations for low end hardware
  • Full-featured combinations for the most complex font needs
  • Support for every written language

Altia Design 11.4 Font Modules are carefully crafted combinations of Font Engines and Shaping Engines that provide enhanced capabilities to deliver beautiful, legible text for global languages at the smallest possible footprint – and are key for controlling appearance, memory size and performance of text that will display on embedded targets. Font Modules work with both the Altia Design GUI Editor and DeepScreen Code Generator to deliver true WYSIWYG experience on embedded hardware. GUI development teams have the option to select from a variety of combinations of Font and Shaping Engines, so as to achieve the best combination of storage on chip and appearance on display. Some examples of supported Font and Shaping Engine combinations are:

  • FreeType with ICU
  • FreeType with HarfBuzz
  • Monotype iType with ICU
  • Monotype iType with Monotype WorldType Shaper
