DeepScreen Target for NXP i.MX 6
Altia’s DeepScreen target for NXP i.MX 6 series is now available! Altia’s DeepScreen code generator already supports a wide range of NXP processors – including their VFxxx (Vybrid) devices, i.MX5 series, Qorivva MPC5645S and MPC5606S MCUs – and these pairings are driving some of the most outstanding embedded displays on the market.
With Altia’s target for the NXP i.MX 6 series, it is now possible to quickly and successfully implement a market-winning GUI on the latest in embedded silicon technology from NXP.
About the Part
The NXP i.MX 6 series processors offer a scalable multi-core platform for next-generation consumer, industrial and automotive applications. This processor family includes ARM Cortex-A9-based solutions ranging up to 1.2 GHz, with capabilities that include HD 1080p encode and decode (except 6SL), 3D video playback in high definition (except 6SL) and low-power 1080p playback at 350 mW integrated I/Os that include HDMI v1.4, MIPI and LVDS display ports, MIPI camera, Gigabit Ethernet, multiple USB 2.0 and PCI Express®.

Features of the DeepScreen Target
The Altia DeepScreen target for NXP i.MX 6 is a full featured, Linux-based target. It runs out of the box on the Smart Application Blueprint for Rapid Engineering (SABRE) platform from NXP (NXP part number MCIMX6Q-SDP) using the OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics library, but can be customized for any hardware set-up. - Support for 2D graphics hardware acceleration using the OpenGL ES 2.0 pipeline libraries supply by the chip vendor
- Support for 3D content within the GUI
- Support for DeepScreen core objects including Deck, Clip, Text I/O, Snapshot, etc.
- External Language file support
- External Skin file support
- Unicode and non-Unicode character support (selectable during code generation)
- Compatible with Altia Design version 10.2 and later
Tool chain support
This target was developed on the MCIMX6Q-SDP (SCH-27392 Rev C2) EVB hardware (from NXP) using the GNU compiler and linker. The operating system was Linux version 3.0 running on an Ubuntu version 9.04 virtual machine. Alternate boards support is also available.
