HMI Engineering Tools Will Soon Integrate with Innovative Flash Platform
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO and Toronto, Ontario, Canada, June 28, 2010 – Altia, Incorporated, a leader in human-machine interface (HMI) engineering tools and Animated Media Inc. (AMI), a software technology company focused on creating Adobe Flash-compatible multimedia software products, today announced a collaborative relationship that will strengthen Altia’s already powerful software suite by including the AMI Flash-compatible VGK platform. The VGK platform is a combination of Flash-compatible engines or players, content management and proprietary modules performance tuned to embedded systems. With this partnership, users of Altia’s software will be given the capability to add Flash content to their HMIs.
AMI has implemented a wide variety of advanced features into its Flash-compatible platform, which Altia users can apply to their development efforts — including advanced transparency, audio and graphics hardware acceleration, ActionScript acceleration, dynamic loading and display of multiple content sources and formats like Adobe Flash animations and videos, bitmap, jpeg or SVG.
Jason Williamson, Altia’s Director of Marketing stated, "Altia wants to empower HMI developers to re-use the brilliant content that their industrial designers create. We began this trend with PhotoProto, continued with FlowProto and we’re carrying that vision through by providing this new capability with AMI’s Flash-compatible platform. Flash brings considerable richness to the systems that can support it. Altia and AMI aim to push this capability onto the lowest power, lowest cost hardware possible."
Chris Brady, CEO of AMI added, "We wanted to partner with Altia given their dominant position in the HMI tools market and their work with automotive customers. The VGK platform will augment the Altia products by allowing designers to add Flash content to their existing user interfaces and allowing manufacturers a roadmap to support Flash content into the future. The VGK platform also provides accelerated ActionScript and OpenGL graphics."
