New Code Generation Target Running Altia and QNX Neutrino Selected for Automotive Instrument Cluster Production Program
Altia announces new DeepScreen code generation support for the NXP i.MX 6 family of processors utilizing OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenVG 1.1 pipelines to maximize Graphical User Interface (GUI) performance. This new target, running on BlackBerry’s QNX Neutrino® Realtime OS, has been selected to power a 10” virtual instrument cluster program.
This code generation target was designed on the i.MX 6 DualPlus family of processors, which not only delivers dramatic graphics and memory performance enhancements, but are also pin-compatible with a broad range of i.MX 6 processors. The i.MX 6 DualPlus includes a dual-core ARM® Cortex®-A9 platform running 800 MHz with 1 MB of L2 cache, 512 MB of RAM – and, of course, the 2D and 3D pipelines already mentioned. This capability, along with other connectivity features, make i.MX6 an ideal multicore platform for leading-edge multimedia applications which require higher graphics performance.

A few days ago, we posted details about the upcoming “Race to the Clouds” which will take place on June 25, 2017 in Colorado Springs – Altia’s hometown. In the Pikes Peak Exhibition Class, the Tesla Model S P100D will take on a true up-and-comer in automotive, the Faraday Future FF91.
We just can’t wait to see what the Faraday Future FF91 will bring to the race. Since its unveiling at CES 2017, we’re intrigued and excited by the innovative feature stack in this car.
Take a look at this “Faraday Future First Look” for a tour of all this new EV has to offer. (Be sure to check out the HUD at 1:28! It’s gorgeous!)

On Sunday, June 25th, 2017, Colorado Springs will host the 95th running of The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) — an annual invitational automobile and motorcycle race to the summit of Pikes Peak.
The PPIHC takes place on a 12.42 mile public toll-road which includes 156 turns and a total 4,720 ft. climb — beginning at Mile 7 marker on the Pikes Peak Highway (altitude: 9,390 ft.) and ending at the Pike’s Peak summit (altitude: 14,115 ft.). As racing altitude increases, the air thins. This impacts drivers and riders by slowing reflexes and depleting both mental and muscle strength. The thin air also robs internal combustion engines of up to 30% of the power they are capable of at the Start Line. Drivers need to be in peak condition to compete — and so do their cars.
Electric vehicles racing up the Peak will have a distinct advantage. Why?
